Technology & Combat Characteristics

The Z'Gok E was intended to be a test unit improved on the standardMSM-07 Z'Gok. Its data was later used to develop the MSM-07S Z'Gok Commander Type. The Z'Gok-E's propellant storage were moved into tanks mounted inside the arms, allowing it to store up power from the generator and perform a rapid-fire from its hand beam cannon. It also replaced the head-mounted missile launcher with torpedo tubes for additional firepower when operating underwater. To allow for better mobility underwater, structurally redesigned joints and other parts were introduced. The arm units can be withdrawn to assume a streamlined form for improved underwater cruising. The mobile suit would also include a standardized cockpit with the introduction of the United Maintenance Plan. It was powered by an improved generator which gave the Z'Gok-E ample performance.

Armaments

  • Mega Particle Cannon - Beam cannons that feature improved output and firing rate, the incorporation of E-Cap technology has greatly contributed to its increased performance.

  • Torpedo Launcher - Missile launcher tubes mounted on the head, they have been retrofitted into torpedo tubes.

  • Iron Nail - Four iron nails mounted on the arms, they can function as simple manipulators.

History

The Z'Gok-E is an experimental upgraded version of the MSM-07 Z'Gok, which was produced in far fewer numbers than the normal and S-Type versions, and was deployed in several clandestine operations near the end of the war. The total MSM-07E production is not well known but one was identified being used by the Cyclops Team special forces to attack a Federation base on the Arctic on December UC 0079.

1/144 HGUC MSM-07E Z'Gok Experiment Model Kit Reviews

This great little amphibious mech was part of the Zeon fleet as seen in Gundam 0080, "War in the Pocket". All parts are molded in colored plastic and snap together easily. Excellent engineering of the arms and legs as well as several polycaps allow flexibility to match the 'real' thing. Included is the hydro-jet booster pack, to allow the Z'gock-E to float in 'cruising mode' underwater. Stickers are included for detail. While no paint is required, if you wish to paint the model, a more 'realistic' effect can be achieved. This 1/144 High Grade kit will impress you with it's articulation and flexibility and also includes the hydrojet booster pack.

I'd like to start off by saying that this is a great looking kit just out of the box. I always loved the look of this mobile suit. The articulation on this suit is actually pretty good considering how it's designed, with some especially impressive articulation around the feet. Each of the fingers move individually which is also pretty neat. What keeps this from being a full 5/5 is the way they decided to engineer the upper arms and legs of this kit. They are composed of individual little plates or shingles, now this makes it look nice and armored but it also makes it a royal pain to actually assemble.

Even after you assemble it you have to be a little careful or a leg or an arm will pop off and you'll have to be frustrated all over again. So, this kit looks great on a shelf, but it's probably not one you'll take down to play with. This kit also comes with a few stickers, mostly for vents and a large one for the central chest piece, almost tragically it does not come with one for the mono eye. The mono eye is a pretty neat transparent reddish pink plastic, but it's fixed on the model directly behind the central support strut of his visor so you don't really get to appreciate it. Despite its flaws I still love this kit, and if you are a Zeon fan you will too.

Value: 4/5
Quality: 3/5
Design: 1/5

The white portions of the arms and legs are horrible. They do not mesh together well and the range of movement for it is very bad. The limb joints do not hold together well. I did however use the shoulder armor and lower leg sections on a zaku, it looks really killer.
